Verla Olson Forbes, 91, of Summerville, SC, widow of Robert R. Forbes, passed into eternal peace Saturday, June 3, 2017.
Verla was a devoted Christian, avid reader, and Bible student. She and her husband
traveled and lived all over the world to third world countries with State Department AID
programs. Wherever she was, she worked on outreach programs and started Bible studies. Upon retirement, her need to continue to be productive brought her to a new career in property management, where she enjoyed great success again because of her love of people and her desire to serve them. Her bright, sunny, spirit lit up everything around her and she was best known for making people feel loved, accepted, and important. She was deeply loved by her family, and always fun to be with because of her great sense of humor, quiet wisdom, positive outlook, and her unquestionable love of us, and the life the Lord had given her.
Verla leaves behind her son, Robert J. Forbes of Scottsdale AZ: daughter, Pamela Forbes Kahl (James) of Summerville, SC: sister Elaine Olson Anderson (Robert) of Ashby, MN; and six grandchildren: Allyson Forbes Kahl Darling (Steven), Ashley Forbes Kahl Daugherty (Brent): McKenzie Forbes; Meredyth Forbes; Robert Forbes; John Forbes, and two great-grandchildren, Caleb James Daugherty; Anna Charity Daugherty.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11 o’clock at Bethany United Methodist Church in Spell Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Ashby, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Lutheran Hospice, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Suite 46, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.

Celebrating the life of Verla O. Forbes
Thank you for signing Verla O. Forbes's Guestbook
Mrs Verla truly made me feel loved and shared her love of Jesus and the Holy Bible. She studied different translations and led Bible studies in her own home. She also greatly enjoyed the contemporary service at Bethany Methodist Church and took many family, friends and neighbors to that service with her. She also participated in Bible Study classes at Bethany, Seacoast, and Summerville Baptist. She truly was a ray of sunshine and an example of God's love to all who knew her! I will miss her until we meet again in heaven 😊
