Obituary

Bobby (Bob) Dean Richardson, long time resident of Summerville, SC, passed away June 10, 2017 at Life care Center of Charleston at the age of 73. Bob was born on August 5, 1943 in Coeburn, VA to Vermont Richardson and Reda Jo (Freeman) Richardson. Bob, oldest of three Children, was raised in the Appalachian Mountains and worked on the family farm until he entered the Air Force in 1961. Bob married Beverley Crosby on November 10, 1966. Together they raised four daughters. Bob, a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force, earned accommodations for his excellent leadership and training skills and retired with the rank of Master sergeant in 1982. He received his Associates Degree from the University of Mt. Olive. He went on to Civil Service work for the Army and finally the Air Force, retiring in 2007. He was a member and past president of AFGE local 2510.

Bob is survived by daughters, Marlene Ares Akins (Tommy, Sr.), Engele Richardson Cockcroft (Clay), Cosette Richardson Wright (Stan), and Shawn Richardson Meade (Donald); grandchildren, Randy Akins (Shy), Tommy Akins Jr. (Brittany), Candy Akins Smith (Dwayne), Joshua Cockcroft, Meaghan Cockcroft, Jacob Cockcroft, Rebekah Cockcroft, Ethan Wright, Juliette Wright, Eden Wright, Colby Meade, and Charlie Meade; great-grandchildren, Wade Akins, Austin Akins, Landon Akins, Gage Akins, Owen Hutto, Brandon Soileau, Madison Soileau, Lacey Akins, Georgia Smith, and Lincoln Miller; great-great- grandchild, Rylee Hudgins; mother Reda Jo (Freeman) Richardson; sister Betsy Richardson Yaratch (Ed), and brother Shawnee Richardson. Bob is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Beverley Crosby Ares Richardson (October 11, 2015), his father, Vermont Richardson (March 1, 1986), great-grandson, Dillon Smith (December 22, 2015) and extended family member Robert Oscar Ares (June 18, 1979).

Visitation will be 4:00 pm Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Parks Funeral Home with a Memorial Service at 5:00 pm, and graveside services to follow at Summerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
